How to avoid trading fees & extend contra period?

Just a small tips on how to earn back your trading fees & to extend your contra payment period on stock purchase:

  1. Apply for a DBS Credit Card & a Standard Chartered XtraSaver Account.
  2. After a stock purchase, use DBS Credit Card to pay your broker for your stock purchase online. Note that only DBS allows you to do this. This can help you to extend your actual cash payment by around one month!!
  3. By credit card payment due date, use Standard Chartered XtraSaver Debit Card to pay by NETS via AXS machine. XtraSaver provides 0.5% rebate for all NETS transactions up to a limit of $50 per month. For a sum of $10,000 stock purchase, you already get back $50, and this will help to pay for almost 90% of your buy & sell trading fees.

Cheers and Good Luck!

Hi Qizheng,

UOB Kay Hian is in the Bill Payment > Bill Payment Organisation when you log into DBS internet banking.

Just select "UOB Kay Hian", and select your DBS credit card as "Pay From".

Hi Mike,

I learn this from a friend. Great to know that you had it in your blog too. Cheers!

hi, if the value of the shares that you purchased is $10,000, but the NETs daily limit is $3000, does it mean that you have to visit AXS to make payment over 4 days? a bit troublesome, right?

Unless NETS transaction at AXS is not subjected to the limit.

OR you can have your family members open xtrasaver accounts and help to pay on the same trip to AXS. Correct?

Well it depends on your negotiation with the bank on your NETS limit.

For me, I have a higher limit than $3000.

But do note that his method ensures that you have extended your contra period.
